Jamie DeVaughn Achieves Rank of Eagle Scout

Jamie Devaughn, age 18, received Scouting’s highest
rank, Eagle Scout. DeVaughn is a member of Troop 169 of Cambridge City, IN,
in the Old Trails District. DeVaughn recently graduated from Lincoln High School,
and is the son of Judy and Brownie DeVaughn from Milton, Indiana.
He earned the rank after demonstrating leadership in his
troop, completing the required 21 merit badges and completing an extensive
community service project. Only four percent of Scouting’s national membership
attains the Eagle Badge.
For his Eagle Scout Service Project, DeVaughn constructed
a Volleyball court in Creitz Park, Cambridge City. The project was financed
through community donations and constructed by his fellow troop members, as
well as volunteers from Lincoln High School.
An Eagle Court of Honor ceremony was held at the American
Legion Hall, Cambridge City. Larry McDaniel, Assistant Scout-master of Troop
169 served as master of ceremonies. Indiana State Representative Phil Phlum
presented Jamie with a certificate from the State of Indiana House of Representatives.
Leroy Lingle also presented Jamie with a certificate from the Hoosier Base
US Submarine Veterans. For

Cambridge City Town Council Meeting

The Cambridge City town council met Monday, July 13, in
council chambers at 5:30 p.m. with all members, several guests and town attorney
Bob Bever present.
Bids for street paving were opened. Powell Paving bid $59,400
and Milestone bid $49,589.40; it was voted to accept Milestone’s bid,
pending review.
Dave Shank, CCVFD chief requested permission to pay Pat
Sieple an annual salary for keeping fire dept. records and filing reports on
each run. Decision was made that she be paid the same amount as a regular fireman,
minus the clothing allowance. Janis Buhl abstained from voting, as Pat is her
daughter. * Town attorney Bob Bever will look into the guidelines and requirements
for creating a territorial fire dept. to include Cambridge City and Dublin.
* The town has one quote for replacing the fire dept. roof. More quotes will
be obtained before a decision is made. * Fire dept. received permission to
close a portion of Parkway Drive on Monday, July 20, for a training session
with Life Air from Muncie. For

Dublin Skate Needs Your Donations

Club Officers
The floor of the skating rink in the Dublin Community Club
is no longer useable for skating after water damages occured. They are planning
to skate on the concrete floor until they can raise enough money for a new
wood floor.
They have opened an account at the MainSource Bank of Cambridge
City and would appreciate any and all donations. The account is The Dublin
Community Club Floor Fund or you may send a check to the Dublin Community Club
Floor Fund at P.O.Box 313, Dublin, IN 47335.
Western Wayne School Board Meets

The Western Wayne School Board met on Monday, July 13th.
The meeting began with the pledge of allegiance, followed by the approval of
the minutes from June 1st.
Receipts from June included a school breakfast/lunch reimbursement
of $28,245.63 and tuition support federal stimulus of $626,463.47.
School Board Officers will remain intact for the 2009-2010

Milton Town Council Meets in Regular Session
The Milton Town Council had a regular monthly
meeting, July 14, at 6:30 pm at the Town Hall.
Ron Cross was introduced to the council and guest as our
new town attorney. We welcomed Ron and we are looking forward to working with
him.
It was approved for the town to issue a check to RCM/Starr
Bank when the town receives the money from INDOT. RCM was the contractor for
Milton to move the water utility lines. For
